I am trying to keep my paintings looser and not to paint too many details. To stop in time before I destroy it. In the same time I have to keep my mind on contrast. I love lots of light in a painting and to be able to get the light I need darks. Don´t forget to look at my Work in progress page where I have two steps of this painting!
White flowers: 40 x 30 cm The Langton Rough. 300 gr.
Hi Catharina, what a beautiful white flowers, I like your choice of colors and the dark area to give contrasts. Have a good Sunday! Hug.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your coment Tito. Good day to you too. Take care!
DeleteThe contrast in this painting is very good! I like the yellow hearts of the flowers!
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy. In the yellow hearts of the flowers I put some violett to make the yellow/orange brighter. I was mixing ultramarinblue and alizarincrimson to get the violett colour. I liked it very much. I will make different blendings with these colours to see how they looks. Exciting.
DeleteTake care!
I love how the blue background goes from lighter to darker-great contrast! Beautiful painting Catharina!

DeleteI love the loose style of your work... and I love watercolours especially when they are used so beautifully... looking forward to following so I can see a lot more of your work..xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind comment! Makes me happy! Wellcome back!
DeleteI love this and I understand about the keeping it loose. I have a knack for filling up all the space in my paintings and so lately have been working at leaving space and it feels a little like using my left hand with a mirror, but it's the process that eventually feels like ME and then I see the change. of course that doesn't make a lot of sense, but I actually know what I mean LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI understand what you mean actually :) I am still struggling with not overwork my paintings. To stop earlier. I´m happy you like it!
DeleteWellcome back!

DeleteThis is beautiful Catharina, the colours, subject matter and your loose style.
ReplyDeleteIt's my ambition to try to loosen up when painting...but I've got a lot to learn...so I'm now following you ;D
It seems easy but it isn´t when it feels as if the hand is glued to the paper! But it´s a matter of forcing yourself until it becomes a habit I guess. Wellcome back!
Deletethis is so darn beautiful, I love it. You have achieved a style that I aspire to. This is what watercolors are supposed to be! Now, if only I could do this. Love your coloration and your composition.
