Some time ago I painted the same scene in both watercolour and acrylic just as an experiment and although there was little difference in the colours and detail, there was no mistaking the 'flatness' of the acrylic.John (JWJarts)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17802012611212667028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37964660165082703.post-74693404689899978232012-10-03T18:01:57.612+02:002012-10-03T18:01:57.612+02:00Thanks Hadiyah! All very African.

The last time I was in Africa was 1979, when I was fortunate enough to be on the crew that flew HM The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Andrew on a two week tour of the African Continent, Cairo to Cape Town.Gatepost productionshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18061920423331681586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37964660165082703.post-45982167414635741512012-10-02T10:47:01.964+02:002012-10-02T10:47:01.964+02:00Beautiful, Catharina! In all your paintings I love the beautiful African colors! In the first one I love how you handled the trees. In the second the tree again and the lovely elephants. You were right about the colors you've used. Beautiful! The third: the tree again:) and the simplicity of this painting. So nice! The last: yeah the trees again hihi.
These are four beautiful paintings Catharina, they should stay together!renatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18077172950772463081noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37964660165082703.post-91719420131649808132012-09-30T17:00:06.918+02:002012-09-30T17:00:06.918+02:00Dear Catharina, you done some wonderful work here!...Dear Catharina, you done some wonderful work here! All of them!

Since I had mostly been learning to paint first with watercolors I have a similar feeling about acrylics...that they are duller somehow...less alive. Maybe it is because they are thicker and don't move as much even with water. I am just trying to learn about acrylics, myself. They're just very different than watercolors, but I have seen some beautiful things done with them. I will keep trying.Ritahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02043285884495492598noreply@blogger.com
