No new paintings-just thoughts about old ones-and a little thank you!

One of my dear blogfriends, Tito gave me the adress to an artist that has great tutorials of how to paint beautyful sparkling water. I guess he had figured out (thank you Tito -and you were so right!) what I was striving to achieve in some of my water paintings. Joe Dowden is that artist if you would like to have a look.

I LOVE the light in watercolour paintings -I have told you so many times, haven´t I?      :D
And I also love a soft serene feeling in a seascape. I mean when the water and the sky melts together and the horizon is vanished, the colours are soft and not too much. And without harsh lines anywere. Somehow I want to regain the feeling I have when out in nature, looking at the water when the sunlight hits the surface, and I just feel so calm and comfortable and good inside. I want to get a bit of that feeling when looking at a painting, and even more when looking at my own painting. I would love to be able to achieve that!
I think I gained a bit of that feeling with my painting Sailboats in a calm bay.

Thank you Renate for reminding me to go back to Joe Dowdens tutorials to learn some more    ;)
Don´t you just LOVE your bloggfriends when they make you stay on the track to learn more stuff!
I have saved his link now amongst other tutorials, down to the right.

On my latest paintings I have tried to get som of the sparkling and light -effects on the water by using sandpaper, as I read about that earlier in another tutorial somewhere. So I have concentrated on sandpaper, and I have been a bit affraid of using masking liquid too much, because sometimes it doesn´t look so good as it tend to make big lumbs of white. But I guess I have to practise applying it in different ways, more according to Joe. And as he tought me; use large contrasts to make the light stand out. Darker colours beside the whites.

I want to thank all of my wonderful blogfriends for spending your precious time here in my blog. It means alot to me! I try to get around to all of your blogs too, leaving a line so you know I´ve had a look at your beautyful and inspiring art. If I happen to have missed a post I allways try to scroll down to have a look when I do get there! Love you my arty friends -thank you for being there!
