I have been looking at Janinas tutorial, and prepared my paper the same way, by putting water on the backside of the paper, turned it upside down and put a glas board (from a frame) on top. For me it´s a new way of preparing the paper, and I had to try it. I usually use maskingtape to hold the paper. I kind of like the white line around the painting that comes from using the tape. But I´m open for new stuff so had to try Janinas way too offcourse!
This painting is from a reference photo at PMP.
I wanted to create a cold and misty feeling. Did I do that?

DeleteWhat a beautiful picture and yes it does look cold and misty. I had a look at Janinas post and that looks easier than trying to stick the paper down. Might try both ways now.

DeleteI have to congratulate you on the candle in the previous post, what a brilliant idea!! I'm going to tell my wife about this one as we dont like throwing things away or any kind of waste, she also really loves her candles so it's a winner. You have certainly achieved what you aimed for in this painting, in fact, it looks positively freezing!! Your muted palette works really well and you have got some lovely, misty effects. Superb work!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy to have given you a good idea with the candles. You do right by telling your wife about it. Candles are so cozy, so I perfectly understand your wife! I´m also happy that you like my winter landscape. A winterlandscape does not give any use of much colour does it. I kind of missed some reds, but didn´t know where to put it! This is painted from a reference photo, and I sometimes feel a bit "locked in" when using a referencephoto. Especially about putting in some extra details. Somehow I have to change my way of thinking. But it´s not easy. Thank you for visiting and commenting Kev!
DeleteI love the effects you've created, it feels cold and has a cool winterly mood! I will check out the link, thanks for sharing your process, it is new to me as well!
