I allways wondered about why people have problems taking of the masking liquid. Now I understand why. I´ve never done it with Arches. It has alot softer surface than the papers I´ve used before. I´ve been struggling with it this morning, but now I´m taking a break from it!
Anyway. I´m sitting in my kitchen having some breakfast now. I will soon be off to my great grandparents. My great granddad is now 94 and my great grandma is a couple of years "younger". They both need a haircut. And as I´m an old hairdresser I´m the one to help them out. Me and my son are invited for dinner there too. I don´t have to cook any dinner today. Yes!
Last night I was having a great time looking at a movie at "Art tutor". You see the link above if you are interrested in having a look. They have some free tutoring movies. I had a look at one about painting flowers. It looks so easy when a pro does it!
I also had a look at a movie on the Tv. One called "Ps. I love you". Have you seen it? As the name said; it was a romantic movie. And it was so sad but I loved it. It had everything that a romantic movie should have. Romance (ofcourse) and great looking sweet guys. I sat alone in my comfortably sofa, safely dreaming away from reality while eating pop corn.
Here is a link where you can see for yourself what movie I mean and the gorgeous actors Gerard Butler and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Offcourse I also stole some time to paint these flowers. I did manage to get the
maskingliquid off but only after a lot of hard work! On this photo the violett
close to the flowers look abit more like ultramarin. But it is violett.
I thought that would be nice with the yellow and orange in the flowers.
The Primroses are light yellow with some white at the outlines of the petals.
I will take a better photo after removing the tape, but first I have
to paint another one to the left of this painting. I did as in the art tutor
movie (at top meny). I think I will start painting atleast two painting at
once, because it´s hard to wait until it dryes when you feel like painting.
Happy painting to all of you blogfriends! Wellcome back! :)
These primroses are so lovely, Catharina! I've been using Arches for a long time and W&N masking fluid and never had problems removing it. However, I've always used a plastic spongy thing for removing the masking, which I bought from the art supply store with my first Frisket bottle. I've never been able to do this job well with just my fingers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Blaga :) I have W&N masking fluid too. I´ll have a look for this plastic removal thing. It´s rough on your fingers too I noticed, when it´s this difficult to remove. Take care!
DeleteThe only time I've had trouble with masking fluid is if I left it on too long or it dried in the heat (sunshine or me using a hairdryer!! Do Not do this). These white flowers stand out beautifully because of the lovely dark background.
ReplyDeleteIt was only there over night, so I didn´t expect problems removing it.But my Arches is rough, maybe it is easier with fine Arches. I don´t know. THank you Polly :)
DeleteTienen mucha fuerza estas flores. Un bella acuarela. Felicidades!
ReplyDeleteHappy to read your comment. Thank you Jesús!
DeleteCatharina. Te ha quedado muy bien esta acuarela usando el enmascarador, lo que pasa que uno es ansiosa de retirarlo y es mejor dejar de un día para otro y asi lucirá mejor. Saludos
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment Mercedes. It´s allways nice to read all your comments. Makes me happy :) Take care.
ReplyDeleteI very rarely use masking fluid Catharina but it's interesting to read about your problem. The Primrose painting is great.
ReplyDeleteJohn. Thank you. I´m happy that you like the Primroses.
DeleteHi Catharina, thank you for your warm welcome I've made some changes to my blog and if it is good you can now follow me.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Bianca
Thank you Bianca :)
DeleteDear Catharina:) I also have expierenced problems with rubbing of my masking fluid but only on the Fabriano Cold Pressed 300 gr. I had the feeling that the surface was to soft. Rubbing the fluid off the upper layer of the paper came with it. I've never had problems on Arches or other papers. The colors in your painting are beautiful and perfect build up from dark to light! The colors in the flowers are very pretty! Well done:) Take care!
ReplyDeleteThank you Renate, I´m glad you like my painting.
DeleteHi Catharina, congratulations for these wonderful primroses, they look so beautiful against this multicolors background. Great job. A hug!
ReplyDeleteThank´s Tito :)
