Flying high fearless...Flyg högt utan rädsla

I have been very excited to post this new painting. It is so different from what I usually paint. It´s been fun, and I have really worked hard to keep it simple with as few layers of paint as possible. It has required alot of me since I very easily cover my papers with pigment. The mountains and the rest is covered with snow, so the blues is only supposed to be on the sides that are hidden from the sunlight. In the backside of the mountains.

Flying high, 35 x 43 cm, Arches rough. W&N.
Palett:
 Mountains:  Paynes Gray. Violett.
 Shadows:  Antwerp blue.
 Eagle: Neutral tint,Violett, Raw Sienna.

I started up with the eagle, as I wanted to make a painting for
the Challenge fall fearless and fly. And the eagle came to my mind
first. But then in the entry they wanted us to use warm colours, and
that didn´t fit what I had been working on for the last couple of days.
It ended up with one more for this entry, this time I used the warm
colours. But this last painting was alot of fooling around with the
brush and the pigments. And don´t forget the salt.

These paintings are an entry to the challenge:

  8. Hello Catharina. Very beautiful paintings, both of them! The eagle is gorgeous and I love the light blue you used for shadows. The second painting is warm and cheerful as the colours you used!
    Warm regards.

  9. Both of these are wonderful Catharina but the Eagle painting is brilliant. I love the limited palette and the way the eagles colouring is mirrored in the rocks. Excellent work.

  11. Catharina both these are gorgeous but the eagle is the best for me. I like the detail work especially the feathers. The beak and the eye are fab too.
