Surrealistik? . . . Surrealistisk?

Continuing to try to loosen-up my paintings. This one seems a bit surrealistic to me.               What do you think about that?
. . . . . .

I have been trying a new technique these last to paintings.

When the paper is still wet, I lift up the pigments with a dry cloth. You might have to do this several times as the pigments tend to run back in to the white area as the paper is still wet. The slightly darker negative flowers in the background is lifted up after the paper has dried.

                     . . . . . .

By the way: I would like you to look at a dear blogfriend of mine. She´s got an artblog that I like to check in to often. Her name is Judy.

  1. Beautiful effects, Catharina! I do that often, lifting paint with a tissue, also to prevent the paint from flowing too much.

  2. Thank you Judy.Earlier I have used masking liquid instead to leave out the whites. But it gives such hard edges so it is not allways sutible for the motive. Plus it takes longer time and don´t give the loose style I´m practising to gain now.
    See you soon! :)

  9. Definitely a bit of Dali and a bit of Picasso too with the defined lines and boxiness. I like a lot. The centre of the flowers look like marbles. It gets the brain thinking. By the way, I use lifting out technique all the time with my work. I wouldn't know how to paint without it. Take care.
